We begin by understanding your vision and defining the project requirements. This often involves partnering with research and design teams to consider factors like function, performance levels, interfaces (people, plugs, data), safety, and cost.
Explore competitive landscapes
We conduct extensive research and benchmark existing products or technologies to gather insights and identify best practices. This can also include identifying and vetting potential technologies for acquisition.
Develop initial design ideas
Our team develops initial design concepts, exploring various solutions and potential approaches to meet the defined requirements. At this stage, engineering ensures that feasible mechanical approaches exist for core functionalities.
Build and test early models
We build and test prototypes to validate concepts and prove the functionality of key design elements. This involves iterative loops to refine designs, progressing from rough proof-of-function models to fully functioning alpha units and more refined beta prototypes that approach manufacturing intent. We also begin sourcing key components during this phase.
Bring it to live with cad
We move into detailed design, using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) for precise modeling and surfacing, integrating all subsystems into a cohesive product that aligns with manufacturing intent.
Optimize design parameters
Throughout the detailed development, we perform various simulations, such as FEA, flow, and thermal analysis, to predict performance, identify potential issues early, and optimize the design for production.
Verify production readiness
We produce final prototypes and rigorously test them against all defined requirements, ensuring the design meets performance, quality, and regulatory standards. For medical devices, this often involves testing with the most representative production intent possible, using final tools and assembly methods.
Finalize design and plan manufacturing
Once all requirements are met and validated, we finalize the design. For products moving to manufacturing, this includes critical activities like production line layout, capacity analysis, equipment definition, and process validation and verification planning. Our engineers work shoulder-to-shoulder with assembly personnel to optimize production processes and tighten work instructions.
