Equipped with a range of tools and machinery, including 3D printers, a waterjet, spray booth, and welder, it’s a hands-on environment for our engineers and designers to rapidly build and refine physical prototypes, bringing your product concepts to life with precision and speed.
Showcase your product in its best light. Our in-house photography studio is equipped to capture stunning, professional-grade images that highlight your product’s design and features, ready for all your marketing and presentation needs.

our history
Tekna, which was called IDEA Development at the time, was founded back in 1988. The offerings were industrial design consulting and contract assembly. This blend of development and manufacturing is core to who we are and who we’ve been from the start. We believe having both within one team provides great value to our clients.
In 1999, we expanded our offerings to also include engineering and production. This strategic move provides end-to-end solutions, allowing us to be a one-stop-shop for our clients.
We opened a new 12,000 sq. ft. facility dedicated to design, engineering, and manufacturing. This new space grew our capacity and enabled greater collaboration among our teams, from initial concept to final production.
We continued to grow our capabilities and our space. This strategic expansion created a unique differentiator, setting us apart from other design consultancies and establishing a robust foundation for financial stability.
The Tekna “Vault” initiative was born to develop and produce its own products and expand its commercialization capabilities. The first entry into this space was the development of a new modular cart system focusing on the complexity in mobile medical product storage and improving clinical procedures in a multitude of healthcare environments called Medscape.
In 2011, our intensive recruiting efforts across the Midwest yielded impressive results, bringing 14 highly skilled Industrial Design and Engineering professionals into our organization. This influx of talent further strengthened our capabilities and capacity.
In 2022, we were acquired by Re:Build Manufacturing. This acquisition provides our clients with seamless access to Re:Build’s vast ecosystem of diverse engineering and manufacturing disciplines. We maintain our small-company feel, continuing to offer specialized services, value customer service and collaboration, and uphold a client-first mentality.
